We accept referrals (including self-referrals) from a wide range of agencies but in general we keep clients’ designated referrer or GP informed as to the outcome of assessment and treatment. This is particularly important if medication is prescribed so that continuity of medical care is maintained.
Following referral an appropriate consultant psychiatrist is assigned to assess the client and treatment and further referral decisions will be discussed with the client at that point. Depending on the nature and severity of the problem a follow up appointment will usually be made to review treatment progress.
Generally the initial assessment takes up to an hour. Follow up appointment generally last up to half an hour. For clients taken on for therapy the individual therapy sessions last for up to 50 mins.
It is a policy of this practice, unlike for example legal practices, not to charge for short term additional incidental work, e.g. telephone calls, forwarding correspondence etc. but a charge may be levied for this work at the discretion of the Directors under certain circumstances. Clients will be informed in advance if this is the case, e.g. Preparation of reports for employers, the regular posting of prescriptions etc.
